Introducing Virtual Farm Field Trips: Take Your Students on a Learning Adventure

October 21, 2024

The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) Division of Food, Nutrition and Wellness (FNW) is thrilled to announce the latest expansion of our Florida Farm to School initiative – Virtual Farm Field Trips!

Available to teachers, parents and students, our immersive Virtual Farm Field Trip videos take students on a learning adventure to three Florida farms growing some of our state’s most popular commodities: cucumbers, sweet corn and strawberries. Students will visit farms in Mount Dora, Havana and Plant City, where they will learn all about how each of these foods is grown, harvested and distributed in Florida – all without ever leaving their classrooms.

Through a combination of engaging videos, guided activities and worksheets, students will gain valuable insight into the world of Florida agriculture, while also learning about life sciences, nutrition and more.

Additional Teaching Tools

To expand the Virtual Farm Field Trip experience, we’ve developed a variety of free teaching resources to complement the videos, including hands-on activities and student worksheets – all inspired by Florida’s education standards.

Resources are designed for grades K-1, 2-3 and 4-5 to help teachers extend students’ learning beyond the screen with activities and worksheets that dive deeper into topics such as:

  • Parts of the plant
  • Plant life cycles
  • Nutrition
  • And more!
