Take Students on a Learning Adventure
Bring the farm to your classroom with our Virtual Farm Field Trips. Students in grades K–5 will discover where their food comes from, meet the Florida farmers who produce it and experience agriculture in action through engaging videos and hands-on lessons.
Each field trip pairs a 5-minute farm video with grade-specific curriculum, including questions, worksheets and activities that extend learning across plant science, nutrition, food systems, math, social studies and language arts.
Curriculum is aligned with Florida education standards, making it easy to connect each field trip to what students are already learning in the classroom.

Cucumbers at Long & Scott Farm
Mount Dora, Florida
Visit Kirsten and Haley at Long & Scott Farms in Mount Dora, Florida, to follow cucumbers from planting to harvest. Along the way, students will learn about cucumber plants and their flowers, discover the important role pollinators play in growing straight cucumbers and see how each cucumber is picked by hand before making its way from the farm to their plates.
Sweet Corn at Sweet Magnolia Ridge
Havana, Florida
Head to Sweet Magnolia Ridge in Havana, Florida, where husband-and-wife farmers Vincent and Stephanie show students how Florida sweet corn grows. Students will see how farmers prepare the soil, learn about pollination and the corn-growing cycle, and discover what makes sweet corn different from the corn used for foods like popcorn.
Strawberries at Astin Farms
Plant City, Florida
Meet sisters and farmers Madison and Payton at Astin Farms near Plant City, the winter strawberry capital of the world. Students will get an inside look at how strawberries grow and ripen, discover what makes strawberry seeds unique and see why these delicate berries are picked by hand before heading from the farm to their school meals.
Aquaponic Lettuce at Traders Hill Farm
Hilliard, Florida
Visit Tracy and Kathy at Traders Hill Farm in Hilliard, Florida, to discover a very different way to grow lettuce: with water and fish instead of soil. Students will explore how aquaponics works, see how nutrients from fish help feed the plants and follow romaine lettuce from the nursery through growing and harvest.
Green Beans at RC Hatton Farms
Hobe Sound, Florida
Join Charlie and Jonathan at R.C. Hatton Farms near Hobe Sound, Florida, to see how green beans travel from a tiny seed to the foods students may see at school or at home. Students will explore how raised beds and the farm’s water system help the plants grow, watch flowers develop into bean pods and follow the beans through harvest, washing and preparation for distribution.

Dakin Dairy Farms
Our Virtual Farm Field Trips are growing!
Soon, teachers can take students on another virtual learning adventure to Dakin Dairy Farms in Myakka City, Florida. There, they’ll meet Florida dairy farmers Ethan and Lindsay Dakin and get an up-close look at where milk, cheese, and ice cream come from.
