The Florida Farm to School Essay Contest is now open! Florida high school students can showcase their writing skills and celebrate Florida agriculture for a chance to win up to $3,000 in college funds.
The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) invites students to submit an original essay, imagining themselves as farmers and exploring how their farm would contribute to their school and community.
The contest is open to all Florida high school students (grades 9-12) from October 1 through November 16, 2026.

Subject: FL Farm to School Art Contest for Middle Schoolers: Showcase Your Talent
The Florida Farm to School Art Contest is now open! Florida middle school students can showcase their creativity and celebrate Florida agriculture for a chance to have their piece selected as the official artwork for next year’s Florida Farm to School Month materials, which will be distributed to schools across the state.
The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) invites students to create a 2D visual art piece inspired by Florida agriculture and the ways locally grown foods connect to their schools and communities.
The contest is open to all Florida middle school students (grades 6-8) from October 1 through November 16, 2026.

Students across Florida are invited to showcase their creativity and celebrate Florida agriculture through the Florida Farm to School Essay Contest and Florida Farm to School Art Contest!
Florida Farm to School Essay Contest
Open to Florida high school students in grades 9-12, the Essay Contest challenges participants to imagine themselves as a Florida farmer and explore the impact agriculture has on their local schools and communities. Three winners will receive up to $3,000 in college funds!
Florida Farm to School Art Contest
Open to Florida middle school students in grades 6-8, the Art Contest challenges participants to showcase their creativity through original artwork celebrating Florida agriculture and Farm to School. One winning entry will be selected as the official artwork for 2027 Florida Farm to School Month and featured on materials used across Florida.
Winners of both contests will be invited to the Florida Farm to School Conference where they’ll be recognized for their achievements.
Both contests are open from October 1 through November 16, 2026.
